Virtual marketing teams can improve operations

Online Marketing for Small Businesses

With recent technological advancement, more businesses are disbanding their internal marketing departments in favor of new virtual teams. While virtual teams may improve the online marketing for small businesses, they should be deployed correctly in order for companies to experience the full benefits, according to marketing strategist Ivana Taylor in an OPEN Forum report.

One of the main benefits of using a virtual marketing team is that executives can choose individuals with very specific skill sets, enabling the entire project to be more refined. However, these teams are often dispersed geographically, Taylor noted, making management sometimes difficult.

The first thing that decision-makers should do is list out the projects they wish to complete and their milestones. After determining what skills are needed for each project, executives can build unique teams for each assignment, recruiting new members as they are needed, Taylor asserted.

Another consideration when building a virtual marketing team is instruction. Decision-makers will need to make detailed work instructions to ensure every member knows his or her role and is able to operate in the best interest of the team.

Cloud services are often recognized as a beneficial technology for virtual teams, since they allow individuals to access the network anywhere, regardless of location.
