Preparedness is the key to benefiting from cloud services

As businesses become more familiar with cloud services, more are beginning to deploy the technologies on a much larger scale. However, organizations should not simply dive into the cloud head first, but should plan accordingly and take a holistic approach to implementation in order to experience the maximum benefits that the technology has to offer, according to a Wired Cloudline report.

As with any new business solution, a quick, unprepared deployment is not the most effective way to implement the cloud. Beginning with a road map, chief information officers should plan their deployment and where the company should be in five years, the news source reported.

This will be an important step, because by 2016, according to Wired, the cloud will no longer be a strategic advantage, but the normal way of performing business operations. No one will be using the term "cloud" by then, as the technology will be just as common in the workplace as on-premise resources.

In the end, decision makers should prepare for a change in the way the IT services are utilized. According to Visiongain, the mobile cloud will be a large contributor to the overall market's revenue, which is expected to exceed $240 billion by 2016.
