Since cloud services are often more reliable and efficient than traditional means, the technology has become a game-changer for many businesses. This is especially true for high-level executives and chief information officers, as many individuals now see cloud computing as a gateway to higher-ranking positions within the company, according to a Forbes report.

Today, business leaders need to know how to utilize technologies to the best of their capabilities in order to lower costs while improving business efficiency. Cloud computing can give executives this ability easier than many other services.

Still, the cloud is relatively new to many organizations, the report noted. As a result, many businesses are now looking for professionals that are qualified to take full advantage technologies. While the term "cloud" may not be part of the job title, the services are becoming a core element for many IT positions, and individuals need to demonstrate a familiarity with the technology to be successful, Forbes reported.

Additionally, the cloud will change the way that businesses operate. For example, many experts believe that the public cloud will be more widely deployed in 2012 for the sake of improving disaster recovery plans for businesses.
