Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Provide leadership as part of the IP Network Engineering team in developing IP transport solutions for long haul, metro backbones, internet and application specific networks. Generate written engineering documentation to support the installation and configuration of IP Routers and Switches.
Specific Responsibilities:
o Make recommendations on network improvements, changes and expansion including routing policy, network architecture, customer policies, new products and equipment selection.
o Work with Applications Services Team to design, develop and deploy new product offerings.
o Develop and publish standards for network configuration, including routing architecture, configuration standards, inter and intra market backhaul topology, and guidelines for maintenance activities.
o Provide Expert support to NOC and Technical operations groups to resolve open IP network related tickets and issues. Provide detailed support and technical expertise concerning the operation of the IP Routers and Switches.
o Manage the generation of Engineering Design Documentation Packages for new network builds or augmentations. Includes engineering all aspects of Layer 1 thru Layer 3 IP services delivery.
o Document and manage all public and private IP spaces and coordinate allocation of IP addresses.
o Develop, provide and maintain positive communication with vendors for diagnosing and rectifying problems
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Required
o Bachelor's Degree, preferably Engineering.
o Telecommunications industry knowledge and experience.
o 7+ years network experience supporting MPLS/IP/VPN network in a carrier environment.
o Must have expert knowledge of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPN, VPLS, VOIP, TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, Ethernet and DSL.
o 5+ years of management experience.
o Excellent verbal and written communications.
