Learn More about Our Business Communications Systems & Packages
Q: Can I keep my current phone numbers with Cbeyond service?
A: Yes. With Cbeyond's local number portability, you will be able to keep your current number when you switch your service to Cbeyond.
Q: Can I keep my current toll-free number?
A: Yes. Cbeyond can carry over your existing number from your previous carrier. Or we can provide you with a brand-new toll-free number.
Q: Will I get to keep the same local features that I currently have with my local provider?
A: Cbeyond offers many of the same local calling features you have now - everything from Caller ID to three-way Call Calling. To find out what features can be ordered, please use the "Contact Us" section of this website to talk to one of our Sales Associates.
Q: Does our local calling area change when we switch to your service?
A: No, if you remain in the same location, your local calling area remains the same.
Q: Will your service work with my existing phones?
A: Yes. You do not need special telephone equipment to work with our service. When you change providers for your local or long distance phone services, some things won't change - like how the phone connects to the service, how you contact a 911 operator in an emergency, or how you look up a number in directory assistance.
Q: How long will it take to transfer my telecommunications service to Cbeyond?
A: With our quick installation, you can start enjoying the benefits of Cbeyond service, often within 30 days of your order.
Q: Is Cbeyond service available in my area?
A: Please refer to our Service Availability map, located in the Cbeyond Serving Area tab under Cbeyond for your Business, for a listing of the cities we serve.
Q: Is Cbeyond's Network compliant with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) requirements?
A: Cbeyond is not a "Covered Entity" or "Business Associate" as defined by the HIPAA regulations; therefore HIPAA requirements do not apply to Cbeyond's network. Cbeyond simply provides a connection for you to transfer voice and data communications. It is your responsibility, however, to ensure that the applications used and the methods in which you transfer information over our connection are done in compliance with the HIPAA requirements. For more information, please refer to the HIPAA guidelines.
Additional information on HIPAA can be found in this document by Cisco Systems "Network Security Solutions for Health Care - Making HIPAA SAFE." (56k pdf)
It is not necessary for Cbeyond to sign a Business Associate agreement for Protected Health Information, because Cbeyond has access to such protected health information only on a random or infrequent basis to perform services or as required by law. The services contract governing our relationship with each customer covers the safeguarding of confidential and proprietary information of either party. Consequently, it is not appropriate for Cbeyond to sign the agreement.
If you have additional questions about HIPAA, your state or local Medical Association is a good source for information or for assistance. Email us at info@cbeyond.net and we can recommend helpful Technology Partners or Medical Associations.
